Record number of transactions and mortgage approvals in May 2021.
According to idealista, the leading real estate portal in Southern Europe, and based on notary data, the number of residential real estate transactions in May this year was higher than any other month of May over the last 14 years, with 59,013 transactions, and the third month in a row where the number of transactions is higher than in 2019. Market momentum is felt across the country, with Castilla-La Mancha, Canary Islands, Cantabria, the Valencia region, Andalucía, Murcia, Castilla y León, Baleares and Madrid being the strongest performers.
Similarly, the number of mortgages granted reached a 14-year record with 31,505 approvals. About 53% of transactions are done using a mortgage, for an average 75% loan-to-value.
